ADMA2024 Call for Special Sessions

The 20th International Conference on Advanced Data Mining and Applications (ADMA2024) will be held in Sydney, Australia during 3rd ~ 5th December 2024. ADMA2024 aims at bringing together the experts on data mining from around the world, and providing a leading international forum for the dissemination of original research findings in data mining, spanning applications, algorithms, software and systems, as well as different applied disciplines with potential in data mining.

It is our great pleasure to invite you to participate in this premier annual event through organising Special Sessions on particular research and applications of advanced data mining. ADMA special sessions are an important part of the main conference program, aiming to promote emerging and cross-disciplinary data mining research areas that are not well established at an advanced level or require intensive domain specific expertise, e.g., bioinformatics, healthcare, cyber security, transportation, manufacturing, finance, and commerce. The same evaluation criteria and quality control apply as for the main conference, but the papers must adhere to the area of the special session they are submitted to, and the reviewers should be experts in that area. All accepted special session papers will be included in the ADMA2024 main conference proceedings.

We welcome proposals of organising special sessions to initiate and strengthen interaction and cooperation among different communities. Special session proposals will be reviewed based on their topic quality and compliance to the submission guideline as well as their relationship to the main conference themes and topics. Preference may be given to timely topics that are critical for data mining and applications, inspire highly interactive discussions, and showcase the impact of advanced data mining techniques.

Proposal Submission

The Special Session Proposal submission portal: https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/ADMA2024.

When creating a special session proposal submission, the proposer should select the “Proposal & Abstract Track” first. After populating the submission form with the information like title, abstract, and authors (i.e., organisers), the proposer should tick the “Special Session Proposal” option under “SUBJECT AREAS”. Following this step correctly is important to ensure that the proposal goes to the Special Session Track Chairs for review.

  • Abstract: no more than 100 words, to allow conference attendees to understand the topic and the focus of the special session.

  • Aims and Scope: Description of its aims and the scope of suggested topics, for the interest to the general DM community and the ADMA2024 attendees.

  • Rationale: Explanation and justification on the novelty and timeliness of the special session, and its relevance to the ADMA community.

  • Organisation Team: Provide a list of organisers, with nominating at least one of them being the primary contact person(s). Specific information required for each organiser:

    • Names

    • Affiliations

    • Country

    • Short bio (including relevant event organisation experience)

    • Primary contact person or not.

    • E-mail

    • Homepage (if any)

  • A list of potential Technical Program Committee members

  • Estimated number of submissions

  • The paper should NOT exceed 15 pages in LNAI format.

  • Summary for the previous editions of this special session (if any), including particularly the number of papers received/accepted.

Special Session Organisation Guideline

Once a special session proposal is accepted, the organisers should follow the steps to set up and manage the special session.

  • A website with the “call for papers” information for the accepted special session should be created and widely publicised via various mailing list and on social media.

  • The important dates should comply with the following timeline:

  • Special Session Submission Deadline: 15th June, 2024 (AoE) (Saturday) 20th July, 2024 (AoE) (Saturday)
Special Session Notification Date: 25th August, 2024 (AoE) (Sunday)
Camera-Ready Submission Deadline: 5th September, 2024 (AoE) (Thursday)

  • We changed the way of submitting the proposal: "ADMA Special Session Proposals" should be sent directly as pdf to Special Session Track Chairs via email to adma2024@mq.edu.au.

  • Special session organisers join the “Special Session Track” as a track chair and should be able to manage reviewers and submissions. All submissions of a special session can be easily selected by ticking the corresponding option of “SUBJECT AREAS”.

  • Special session papers strictly follow the same specifications, requirements, and policies as the main track submissions in terms of the paper length, formatting, and important policies. Please refer to Submission Guideline in the main track Call for Papers.

  • The peer-review of special session submissions is coordinated by the corresponding special session organizers and should be fully aligned to the main track reviewing process and criteria. Technical Program Committee members should be invited and managed by the special session organisers, but the peer-review should be double-blind.

  • The special session organisers make recommendation of accepting/rejecting a paper in their special session, which must be validated by the Special Session Track Chairs. The final decision of accepting/rejecting a special session paper is made by the ADMA2024 Program Chairs to ensure uniform quality control for all special sessions and consistency with the main track.

All enquiries about special session proposals should be emailed to the Special Session Track Chairs via adma2024@mq.edu.au, with a subject starting with "[ADMA2024 Special Session]".
